First of all, it was Emily's 21st Bday today...HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIS!
We got up this morning and went to Hanauma Bay (sp?)...you can snorkel there but they only let a certain number of people in at a time. We could have gotten in but we wanted to drive the southern coast and see a few more beaches....another trip maybe....there are pics attached to show you what it looked like.
We lunched at Hank's Haute Dogs which was featured in Diners, Drive In's and Dives or whatever order those D words go in (see how much I watch Guy?)....Terrie and I had chili cheese dogs...the guys had 2 other kinds and they come with the WORKS...plus we got onion rings & french fries. Delish.....but the heartburn came later!! :) Well worth it....pics to follow...
After a short non-nap at the hotel, Terrie and I took off to do a little shopping (for those people unnamed at this time) and got some Cold Stone icecream mix-ins....beached it to watch the surfers while we enjoyed our ice cream. Butterfinger for me...thank you Jill Baker for that addiction! Jim napped and Kent went to visit the Army Museum.
A few hours at the pool with screaming kids that kept hitting each other and the little one kept pulling his shorts down and peeing in the pool...mom and dad were drinking heavy and the poor little heathens were sunburnt and tired. I just wanted to slap the parents. We finally left.
After we cleaned up, we walked down Waikiki Beach and had an appetizer at Duke's - famous guy here for being an Olympian - we got to sit outside on the beach....nice to enjoy the waves coming in.
Tomorrow we head for the island of Kauai. I'm understanding that it is less commercial, less people and less touristy....looking forward to that.
I will say that on our walk back to the hotel we decided we would probably come back because Waikiki beach is a nice place....we would want to stay directly on the beach next time. Too many people on this island for a girl from rural Missouri. Next stop - Paradise II.
Stay tuned...
We took some pics in the hotel lobby tonight....
ALOHA!
Our feet were killing us so we took a break in the belly of the MIGHTY MISSOURI
Hanauma Bay...
